Your questions answered – 5 common questions all about verandas

Your questions answered – all about verandas Today, we’re doing a quick-fire round-up of some of the most asked questions about our verandas. We know that buying a veranda (aka pergola, glass room, or garden room) is a big decision, and we’re here to make sure you have all the answers.

1. Do I need planning permission?

No, planning permission is not usually required for installing a Deponti veranda. However, there’s a few things to consider – make sure the veranda covers no more than 50% of your garden, is less than 3 metres high, and isn’t located on the roof of your property or between the house and road. Finally, if your house is listed, you should double-check that installing a veranda is permitted.

2. Can you heat a veranda?

Yes, we can install a Quartz Heater, which has a maximum capacity of 1500W and works in a similar way to central heating. This heater is perfect for a closed veranda – so we’d recommend adding glass walls to keep the heat in. You can also opt for polycarbonate roofing, which has insulating properties, and of course, you could add curtains or blinds for extra heat protection.

3. How much cleaning and maintenance is needed?

Our Deponti verandas require minimal maintenance. Cleaning is simple – just water, a cloth, and a non-abrasive cleaning product. The aluminium frame is strong and designed to last – including the frame colour. We’d recommend some annual autumn-winter maintenance – keeping the gutters clear and removing debris will keep your veranda smart and issue-free.

4. Can I take my veranda with me if I decide to move house?

The simple answer is yes! Our verandas are designed to be easy to dismantle, and they are not tied to a single home. It’s entirely possible to remove the veranda and reinstall at a new property, if you wish.

5. How strong is a veranda?

There’s two reasons why our verandas are incredibly strong. First, the aluminium frame makes the structure durable, and long-lasting. Second, you can choose to anchor your veranda in concrete footings, enabling it to withstand strong winds. Want to know more?
